We are proud to announce that Professor Atif Mian (Princeton University) is this year's recipient of the R. K. Cho Economics Prize!Professor Atif Mian is a macroeconomist whose academic contribution is not limited to a particular field of Macroeconomics, but is highly influential in a variety of fields. His works have greatly enhanced our understanding of aggregate implications of household debt and financial crisis. He is also an author of the book, "House of Debt: How They (and You) Caused the Great Recession, and How We Can Prevent It from Happening Again.” As of March 2025, the number of citations of his works exceeds 27,000 (google scholar).
He is a recipient of a 2021 Guggenheim Fellowship and was elected Fellow of the Econometric Society in 2021.
